The purpose of this study was to examine the safety in rabbits treated intravenously with urinary trypsin inhibitor(UTI). A repeated dose toxicity was carried out in New Zealand White rabbits which had been intravenously treated with UTI, at dose 300,000, 30,000, 3,000 unit/§¸/day and 0 unit/§¸/day once a day for 4 weeks. Each groups were consisted of 3 male and female rabbits. There were no dose-related changes of clinical findings, body weights, food and water consumptions, opthalmoscopy, organ weights, urine analysis, biochemical examination and hematological findings in all the groups treated with UTI. Gross and histopathological findings revealed no evidence of specific toxicity related to UTI. Therefore, it was concluded that UTI have no effect on repeated-dose toxicity and side effect in New Zealand White rabbits.
